This is a wishful happiness practice and it helps you to accept the present moment and appreciate your wonderful existence, by focusing on the most joyous moments in your life. It allows you to guide your wandering while staying in the present.
Instructions
- Sit in a comfortable and relaxed posture. If possible, choose a room and a time where your interaction with the external world is minimal to avoid interruptions. Close your eyes and allow your body and head to swing gently to the left and then to the right in a rhythmic motion.
- Take a quick deep breath and exhale slowly. Now slow down and stop, and focus on the moment. Now Breathe deeply and exhale long. Lift your shoulders, remember just your shoulder and not your hands, take them back and gently drop them down. Repeat this for as long as you wish. Breath deeply again, take your time to exhale. Now let your breathing return to normal.
- Recall the happiest moment in your memory. Use all your senses to be in the memory as fully as possible. Imagine what you looked like at that time. How did you feel? What was your mind focusing on? Think of the smell, texture, and sound that were a part of the experience.
- Look around within the memory, in every corner, take in everything as if it is happening for the first time. This is your experience. Right now. You are feeling whatever you want to feel.
- Let it take over your body and your mind completely. If your mind wanders, gently bring your focus back to the feeling that you’ve chosen to focus on.
- Whenever you feel comfortable, bring back your awareness to the space that you are in. Gently open your eyes. Stay in that moment for some time, hold on to that good feeling with you for the rest of the day. This is the end of this short practice.
